How to Make White Queso Dip in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
We absolutely love a good queso dip in my house. I’m not sure why I have not ever tried to make one before, but I’m sure glad I made this Crock Pot White Queso Dip! As Ryder said, “Mom! You hit this one out of the park! It is amazing!” I just so happen to agree kid. 😉
Now, I know some will be skeptical of the cooking time. It really does depend on your slow cooker. Believe me, I have a set of 4 foot shelves filled with slow cookers. For some of my 4 quarts, I know the cooking time would have been on the longer end (closer to an hour and a half). However, I didn’t want to write this recipe for only those slow cookers. If you have a slow cooker that cooks hot (like the one I used), you really do want to start checking it around the half hour mark. If I hadn’t with this particular slow cooker, I would have had burnt edges. And no one wants that! So, if you don’t know which your slow cooker is, take a peak at 30 minutes and watch it closely the first time you make it. If you do, I am sure you will enjoy this yummy dip as much as we do!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 1 lb white American cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter, sliced
- 4 oz can chopped green chiles, drained
- 1 cup Half and half
- 1/2 cup mozzarella
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 T ground red pepper (or more to taste if you want it spicier)
Equipment Needed
- Cutting board
- Sharp knife
- Can opener
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Wooden spoon
- 4 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: 7 minutes
- Cooking Time: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours on high (This depends greatly on how your slow cooker cooks. Mine cooks hot, so it was done in 45 minutes. If your slow cooker cooks cooler, it will take closer to 1.5 hours.)

You don’t need the red peppers chips in it with pepperjack…but still good

This looks good but I think I will try it with pepperjack cheese instead. What to you think?

Hi Raymond!I haven’t tried this with pepperjack, but would be very interested to find out how it goes if you give it a try. I think it could work, but it would definitely change the taste of the dip and possibly the texture. I think the cooking time would be similar. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

Hi! I want to make this white queso dip, but I can’t find any blocks of white American cheese, just slices. Can I use Velveeta Queso Blanco instead?

Hi Lisa! The slices work just fine! I have made this recipe multiple times and have had success with the slices. Just cut them into squares. Enjoy!
